Needs

There are basic needs that we all have for survival. They are universal and they don't compete with each other. Here are some more thoughts about needs. Checking in with my own heart, as well as neighbors and friends here at the Schoolhouse, here are the things that we need the most:

• health and safety from physical harm
• a sense of security
• trust in each other
• freedom from judgements
• honesty, telling the truth
• role models
• beauty, order and calm
• fun and play

Wants

Here are some of the things that we want in order to meet our needs. These things certainly aren't the only way to meet our needs, but would certainly fit with the strategies we're working with now. Can you help with any of these things?

• watering can
• a meeting room large enough for 30-40 people within a block or two
• healthy fresh organic food
• space to garden
• volunteers to help distribute flyers, or send messages to others in the Schoolhouse
• someone to plan the next block party
• plants or trees, especially native, for planting on our block
• cash to pay for mortgage, utilities and taxes
• assistance in getting off the grid
• a no-interest loan to pay off our house
• artistic talent to help with a book illustration
• caregiver to practicing unconditional and compassionate childcare 5 hours a week
• strong volunteers with positive attitude to participate in planting of street trees, and ongoing maintenance
• skilled professionals to remove a large dying tree on a parking strip
• artist to help design a really cool treehouse
• a mill to turn cedar logs into planks for said treehouse
• help planting seeds, maintaining trees and picking up garbage at the playground
